Samish
Island Arts Festival

The
12th Annual Samish Island Arts Festival
will be held on July 26, 2008, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The
2008 featured artist is Joan
Colvin, a beloved island fabric artist who passed
in September 2007.

Poster
Art Work:
Artwork has been chosen for the Summer 2008 Samish Island
Arts Festival poster. This year's poster, as a memorial to
Joan Colvin, will feature her piece entitled
Heron in Reeds, created in 1995 (she was also the featured
artist on the 1999 poster). In Joan's art statement about
this quilt, she says, "If you are continuously exploring
a subject, for instance the spirit and configuration of heron,
then it's a great triumph when 'heron leg' fabric leaps out
at you! If you have the legs you can go anywhere."
Features:
This
Summer Arts Festival features original art, glass art, fiber
arts, woodwork, jewelry, pottery, cards, photography, and
garden art. The 2008 show may also feature wine & cheese
tasting, and food from local artisans, such as breads, and
other items.
There
is live music, and free door prizes are always fun.
