For our info: Tom Sullivan received warning about a caller claiming to be an AT&T Service Technician conducting a test on the telephone lines, who states that to complete the test one should touch nine(9), zero(0), the pound sign (#), and then hang up. The person receiving this call contacted the telephone company and was informed that, by pushing 90#, you give the requesting individual full access to your telephone line, enabling them to place long distance calls billed to your home phone number. (So it’s never a 90#!)

At the beginning of MOBY DICK, Melville’s hero, describing his melancholy and weariness of spirit, says that ‘whenever it is a damp, drizzly November in my soul...then I account it high time to get to sea.’ My own remedy is a little different, says Finch. When soul and weather match in mood...I find more often the woods, not the sea, are best” Robert Finch, Common Ground.
